Don't sin in your anger
July 18, 2014
Being angry is a natural human emotion. While anger isn't a sin, acting on it is (see Eph. 4:26). If you are angry because of your enemies that's okay, but you can't let anger be the impulse behind your actions. In other words, you can't say what your anger wants you to say or do what your anger wants you to do. When you do, you follow your flesh, and you shut down the voice of the Spirit and reject God's will in your life. This clouds the water of your purity and makes it toxic. Anger does more to destroy you than it does to destroy your enemy. So you can't let anger take hold of your heart. You have to reject it as a selfish emotion that attempts to reject God as Lord of your life and replace Him with self. You have to practice James 1:19-20, and be "Slow to anger". When your heart starts to boil, stop for a second and remind yourself that life isn't about you or what anyone has done to you but is about Jesus and what He has done for you. He has given His life so you can give your. (Read Luke 9:23) The Holy Spirit prompts you to reject the call of anger and instead deny yourself and to follow Christ into love, even love for those who hate you.
